Having always wanted to be an engineer since I was
a child I achieved my goal & became a Chartered
Engineer in 1987.

Goals are important to me as they focus my attention
and give me purpose.

Looking back I guess I did battle with some rather
traditional beliefs about what careers young girls
should pursue. However I didn't let these get in my
way!

Always a tom-boy, spending my formative working
years in a predominately male environment was no
problem - it was fun, it was challenging; things that
I value.

I realise now that I designed a number of unique
strategies to deal with these attitudes; at school
(single-sex) I'd fix the sewing machines rather than
actually use them, in my early career I sought
recognition as an engineer not as a woman who was
an engineer.

I worked my way up from Lab. Technician to Senior
Engineer. I gained a degree in Electronic Design &
Production along the way (via day release). However
just when I'd achieved what I thought I wanted, guess
what? It wasn't!

Someone asked me if I'd like to manage a group
of engineers. I said I'd give it a go, enjoyed it & found
that I was good at it. So I started my path towards
becoming what I call a human engineer.

I moved from engineering management to directing
high performing teams. However when my father
died suddenly forteen years ago I found myself
questioning what I was doing & where I was going.
I looked at the leaders in my high tech, multi-national
organisation & didn't see anything that inspired me.
It wasn't the individuals themselves but rather what
was expected of them in the positions they held.I
realised that I no longer wanted to be CEO!

So that is when I changed direction toward
Performance Coaching, working with individuals who
want to make changes in their lives but didn't know
where to start.

I discovered NLP & followed a course of training;
NLP Practitioner, NLP Masters & NLP Coach with
ITS (www.itsnlp.com) to enable me to Coach others
to success.

The Wright Coach was established in February 2004.
